  • AUD$ 1 billion

  • Site area 10.4 hectares

  • GFA 150,000 m2

  • Concrete, masonry, steel, glass & metal cladding

Waterfront, Newstead Riverpark is on riverfront land that was home to a gasworks until 1968 and still contains the heritage-listed steel skeleton of a large gas tank dating from 1860. This site is only 2 km from the Brisbane CBD on a 375m north-facing stretch of the Brisbane River. Mirvac controls 10.4 hectares of the 17-hectare Newstead Riverpark site and the Mirvac Design Team proposed the transformation of this toxic wasteland into the city's premier mixed-use community, to incorporate residential apartments, office space and retail while offering 50 per cent open space for public space.

This site comprises approximately 150,000m2 of gross floor area for over 750 dwellings in buildings ranging from 8 to 25 levels, and there will be more than 5.5 hectares of parkland, a lake, marina, walkways, cycle paths, with the site's heritage-listed gas tank frame set to become the focal point of a public piazza. This AUD$1,000 million plan has become Brisbane City Council's largest Urban Renewal project. Stage one – Waterfront comprises four luxury apartments, five mixed-use buildings, one central park and one sales office.

As Mirvac Design's Design Architect, William's roles include but are not limited to:

  • Developing feasibility studies, concept design, schematic design, building layouts and detailing of Waterfront Pier Precinct, Park Precinct and Newstead Riverpark Sales Office with developers, marketing team, QS, construction team and property manager, through constructability, operation, maintenance, market survey and profitability.

  • Innovating Mirvac’s multi-residential products. Waterfront Pier Precinct exceeded all previous Brisbane property project sales records, and the primary penthouse broke the single apartment price record by AUD$ 14.25 million.
